"specified sql server not found" is error message when i tried to con.. my VB.net app to sql ser

can someone tell me what has gone wrong with my sql server 2000,when i tried to connect to server(server is over lan on diffrent machine) it shows the error message mentioned above.
I m in great need...Any one suggesting the way will be highly appriciated..

Your code is not capable of accessing the SQL Server. This can be due to a variety of reason.



To diagnose the problem, try to log into SQL Server with Query Analyzer for example, using the credentials in the ConnectionString your application is using.



You might not have access rights. You're server might not be running.

Follow these steps to help you determine the reason you cannot connect to SQL Server 2000:



1. Verify that SQL Server or MSDE is installed and running.

2. If you are connecting remotely (to a server on a different machine), make sure your connection is not blocked by any firewalls on either machines including Windows built-in Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) and Windows Firewall. Contact your system administrator for firewall configuration.

3. If you are referencing an instance of SQL Server 2000 or MSDE 2000 other than the default instance, use the convention \ (example ProdServ\Sales).

4. Make sure you don't have an older ADO version/

5. Make sure your client protocols are configured properly

6. If you are connecting to a remote server and the server name is not resolved with DNS, use the IP address itself instead of the server name.

7. Make sure that Windows XP SP2 is not blocking your connection

1) check that the service is running. (and check event logs for errors)



2) make sure you can connect to it with the sql manager



3) make sure there are no typos in your addressing of the sql server in your code

it is been greater beneficial than 2 years i haven't visited yahoo chess sport via fact my workstation has been corrupted and now that it is been restoration, i'm attempting to open my chess sport yet i could no longer get in to the server. How could you help me to connect back to the club.
