The problem I'm having is removing the header & footer permanently. You see, I go to the 'insert' tab then go to the two header and footer options then click remove footer. When I do that both the header and footer are removed at once but not for good. When I go to type in the space where the footer was word doesn't allow me to do it, and when I click the area where I want to type, the footer pops back up again.

Anyone else having this problem? And how do I remove the footer permanently from the whole document?

well what you have to do is to play with the margins

1. click on page layout

2. Click on Margins and select custom margin

3. Go to Layout and reduce the header and footer.

now you will be able to make use of the space, but be aware if u double click at the top or bottom of the page the header and footer will popup, coz thats how the excel is programmed

hope this helps. good luck

To Insert a custom header or footer: 1. On the Insert tab, in the Header & Footer group, click Header or Footer. 2. Click Edit Header or Edit Footer. 3. Insert the horizontal line by using the options in the Insert group on the Design tab, under the Header & Footer Tools tab. To Make the first page header or footer different from the rest of the pages: 1. On the first page of the document, double click the header or footer area. 2. Under Header & Footer Tools, on the Design tab, in the Options group, select the Different First Page check box. 3. In the First Page Header or First Page Footer area, delete the contents of the header or footer. To start numbering pages on page 4: 1. Place the cursor at the beginning of the page where you want page numbering to start. 2. On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Breaks. 3. Under Section Breaks, click Next Page. 4. On the Insert tab, in the Header & Footer group, click Header or Footer, and then click Edit Header or Edit Footer to make changes in the header or footer area.

Select the whole document first and THEN click remove header and remove footer. You can easily do this with CTRL-A. I hope this helps.
