Total novice question...I want to save a webpage as at a certain time/ date...in other words, if I save it on my pc and i click on it, i don't want to be taken to the webpage as it is now. Instead, i want to see it as it was when I saved for example 4 days ago. Good example, a certain website gave a pattern for free. Thus I clicked' save as' and renamed it appropriately. However, went I returned one month later, the 'owner' of the page decided that they will now charge for the pattern. Thus, when I open my saved webpage, it linked to the existing page and I have to pay for the pattern. I now try and print all free patterns but it is obviously time consuming.

I do not belive it possible to do exactly what you are saying beacuse the website owner will restrict access unless you pay but. In IE7 On your menu bar click page then save as and save the document to your Documents.

Try this in Internet explore click on file and save as make sure where it says "Save as type:" reads Webpage, complete[.htm;*.html] choose a location to save the web page you don't need to rename anything now click save it'll save a webpage and a folder, now when if you double click on the file you've saved it'll open in internet explorer exactly as it was when you saved it it will be reading it from you computer

If using Internet Explorer, click File | Save As... (or Page icon | Save As...) then for "Save as type:", choose "Web Archive, single file (*.mht)", which is better than the other options mentioned, because it saves it all as a single file, rather than a folder with a bunch of separate files inside.

1.

On the File menu, click Save As.

2.

Double-click the folder you want to save the page in.

3.

In the File name box, type a name for the page.

4.

In the Save as type box, select a file type.

5.

Do one of the following:

To save all of the files needed to display this page, including graphics, frames, and style sheets, click Web Page, complete. This option saves each file in its original format.

To save all of the information needed to display this page in a single MIME-encoded file, click Web Archive. This option saves a snapshot of the current Web page. This option is available only if you have installed Outlook Express 5 or later. When you choose Web Page, complete, only the current page is saved. With Web Page, complete and Web Archive, you can view all of the Web page offline, without adding the page to your Favorites list and marking it for offline viewing.

To save just the current HTML page, click Web Page, HTML only. This option saves the information on the Web page, but it does not save the graphics, sounds, or other files.

To save just the text from the current Web page, click Text Only. This option saves the information on the Web page in straight text format.

Hmm odd, try going to file, and check "work offline" then try to open the saved html file. Once you are done viewing this stored page remember to remove the check for work offline if you want to browse the real web later.
