Avoid hostsg.com at all costs.



Reason 1: Poor security backbone. One of our website's shared server suffered from an occurance of a server wide breach through the SymLink exploit on hostsg's servers. Due to the infection and installation of database exploit programs, we are even able to access information from other websites located on the same shared server. It is alarming to note that the web hosting company has been in the market since 2006. We have since warned the company on the exploit. What happens next was a mass email to all the websites' administrators hosted on that particular server, 'warning' them that THEIR website is infected, when actually they are unable to track the origins themselves. Surely, just an effort to cover their own asses.



The second reason we decided to ban hostsg permanently is because of the ignorance of their support personal to blame the website code for the slow speed of our website loading, when clearly we are using a very simple base theme and have tested it on our development server with no issues of load problems. We even given the company the opportunity to upgrade our host package to a faster service, but it appears that pushing the blame comes more of a priority for them. Whether it is just the service staff's stupidity, in which he should be fired immediately, or just that the service standard of hostsg just isn't up to par with other shared hosting providers, we do not have the patience to deal with them again.



Like most things, making a decision on which web hosting company to choose can be tough. With all the companies out there each promising to have 99% up-time, and unlimited resources, jumping on the cheapest offer you see isn’t necessarily the best idea, especially if you rely on your site for business and customer interactions.
