Question:
Can somebody PLEASE help me? (Webcomic/Weebly.com/Hosting Related)?

Okay. So, I started really getting into webcomics. I've always been a bit of a cartoonist, so I figured I'd start one of my own. Simple enough idea, right?

When I had that idea a month and a half ago, I never would have imagined the kind of brutal, mortifying confusion trying to do this has brought me.

I have photoshop. I have the artistic skill. I'm just apparently an imbecile when it comes to HTML/anything having to do with web hosting. Seriously, damn. I used to think I was a pretty smart dude. But this makes me feel no wiser than a four year old.

Here's where I am right now;

-I've created a domain name. Purchased it and everything.
-Currently, that domain is being hosted through weebly.com. The current weebly site for it holds absolutely nothing, it's totally blank. Because I don't understand weebly at all. I think it looks mediocre, and I don't think you can use it to do what I want to do.
- I've followed a few basic youtube tutorials, and I've managed to create a banner for the comic in photoshop ("Home", "About", "Archive", etc, buttons are on the banner), and I've spliced it up and saved it all so that if I drag the HTML file from my desktop to a web browser, the banner shows up. I even learned how to make the links clickable. Even though they don't take you anywhere when you click them.

Now I'm so confused. I don't know what to do next. Since weebly was super confusing, and I feel like I made more progress doing my own thing with the html banner page, I thought maybe I'd try to host the site myself? But then I read about how much of a bad idea that is, and you need like some psychotically large amount of bandwith and I don't even know what else.

I'm stuck. But I'm not giving up.

I'm on a Mac. I have Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver.

Can somebody please, please help? :(

First, if your serious, pay an extra $1.99 / month for hosting and you can have full control of your site with no banners.

I prefer http://hostingpad.mestore.us

$1.99 web hosting

Has everything Godaddy has but better statistics tracking

After that try something like Coppermine Photo Gallery or Drupal.

I do not claim to know your web host, but I do think that there is little support given to customers who want to upload files to those CheapHost type sites. I am a Web designer for Speedsoft.com. I design on a Mac or PC platforms and I have found the easiest way to manage your files is through Dreamweaver.

If the webhost allows you to upload files via FTP, then you if you are a visual person, will be saner to use Dreamweaver (rather than something like WSftp).

If you need assistance you can Call Speedsoft at 866-71-SPEED (866-717-7333). Our Hosting on average is $12.95 per month and you can call and talk to a live person in this country!

We are located in the DFW metroplex (Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas).

I'm here to add to your confusion. Aren't you happy?

I wouldn't go with weebly. If you're serious, go with a paid hosting option like hostgator.com and using free software from wordpress.org, and use comicpress:

http://comicpress.org/

http://comicpress.org/download/

http://comicpress.org/about/

Fair warning: there is a learning curve to wordpress, but not too horribly bad. In my opinion, if you can deal with photoshop, you can deal with this.
