Question:
IMOVIE WRECKED MY PROJECT! PLEASE HELP! If you click Continue, your project will be exported without these clips.?

I literally just spent 6 and a half hours total editing a video.. On the most recent version of iMovie (10.0.2). I plugged in my SD card straight to my computer and imported the footage directly onto iMovie. I then got my friends SD card and did the exact same thing (as she also had footage I needed). When ever I removed her SD card the files would disappear from the event section and from the project leaving a black blank place where the clips once were in my project. Once I put it back in everything went back to normal.. Then out of nowhere my iMovie crashed. I tried opening it again and then ALL the footage from the project disappeared so I force quite the app and launched it again. Most of the app was blank white except for a couple of places but pretty much unresponsive.

Even when I was only the problem with my friend's SD card I couldn't export my project while the card was still in the computer. I was given this message if that helps '“holiday movie” has missing media. If you click Continue, your project will be exported without these clips.'

There is not a problem with the SD cards as my friend also did the same with both the SD cards on her iMovie. Sorry for the long description, maybe it will help more. I would really really truly appreciate help as I sent soo long editing it and I really want the project back without having to start all over again.

PS I got iMovie to open again so it is no longer crashing, but it's the same story with everything else.

It sounds like some of the footage on either SD card is corrupt or missing. This means that particular scenes in your movie are not showing up because the program cannot locate the source files. I would check to see if each piece of footage on your SD card plays normally and without problem. If you backed up your footage on your computer, you may be able to import this footage onto the timeline and 'replace' the faulty footage.

Other than that, you may have to re-take your footage if it's all corrupt or missing.

Also, you cannot export your movie without the SD card because the program is looking to the SD card for the footage, which obviously won't be there if it's not in your computer at the time of export. I suggest saving all of the footage from your SD cards onto your computer so protect yourself from future corruptions, but by doing this you would probably have to re-edit the entire movie. I hope this helps :)

I suggest you copy the video files from your sd card to your computer so that when you edit the videos located in your computer, the changes you made won't be affected if you remove or not your Sd Card. Furthermore, if your video editing is not responding, I suggest you use another editing softwares such as Camtasia or your computer's memory might not that sufficient enough to handle your software. I suggest you uninstall any unnecessary programs and delete fsome files that aren't needed anymore so that your computer will have a faster performance.
