i can run my asp.net web project in my local computer. i can run it through IIS. but how can i run it in the server of my college. is there any server side coding is needed?

You just copy the folder containing your application to the server. You will need to add a virtual directory in the server's IIS.
If your application uses a DB, you also need to configure the application to read from the appropriate DB server.
It will depends on how your school has the IIS server configured. If they don't have the IIS server configured to run ASP.NET then you will not be able to run the ASP.NET web application on the school server. In the end it comes down to whoever is administering the server will dictate what types of scripting languages can run on it.
