Question:
Gimp animation problems with saving the layers?
2013-03-28 23:57:34 UTC
When i am in Gimp i have layers i want to animate. When i click the Animate button at the top, it gives me a picture where it starts the animation but as it continues, it keeps the layer in the background... so as it animates, the previous layers stay... i don't understand what i need to do. And the layers are transparent, but that really doesn't matter... right?

When you export as GIF choose the option that says Frame Disposal Where Unspecified "One frame per layer (replace)". Then select the option that says "Use disposal entered above for all frames".

Easier than typing it in on each individual layer.

There's a surroundings for GIF (do not know where in GIMP) for what to do with the previous frame when then new body would not cover it totally. You may have it set to hold/exhibit the prior and you ought to wipe that out.

try renaming the layers and put (replace) at the end of the layer name so for example for a 3 frame animation you will have something like

Frame 1 (300ms) (replace)

Frame 2 (300ms) (replace)

Frame 3 (300ms) (replace)

either that or save as animated gif and when you get to the box where it gives you frame disposal option choose replace instead of combine
