Grab square section screen shot
Open screen shot in Preview
Use Select tool (from the Tools menu) and select Elliptical Selection
Drag Selection over area to be captured in the circle
Press Command C to copy the selected circle
Either Paste into where ever it is required or Select New from Clipboard in Preview's File menu and and save the circular image for later use.

You can try Voila Mac Screen capture software. It lets you easily capture free-hand or even a circular region. It's a paid app, although you can try if for free for 15 days. It also has a couple of interesting annotations to make you project even more interesting
