Question:
Should I learn C++ or Java or something else?

I know some of Scheme (which you have MOST LIKELY never heard of...) and quite a bit of VB, I even made my own calculator that adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides, using 2 text boxes, and 1 label! it even shows what you previously entered! :D lol. (got a little too excited...)
I was wondering, which one would be better for doing programs for basically just Windows machines, and would help me get a job with a more major company later in the future?

I dont wanna really learn both right away, so which one is easier, or does more, or is more fun, or all of the above? any other factors that make one better?

Thank you!

I think Java is easier, since it's higher level. You could probably get code working fasterin Java than in C++. However, C++ is definitely not obselete; perhaps I'm biased, but I'd think most major software companies would expect a working knowledge of C or C++.

I'd say start with Java, and then learn C++ next.

Both have there own advantages... But as a progrmaer I would prefer to learn Java as it is a very useful tool in doing both online and offline work (either to make a very heavy website like yahoo or google to become rich or to make a very big game like IGI 5 or Commandos 7 etc). So, try to learn Java. And the best way ever to learn Java is no more then the following link.

C++ and Java are both good choices. They both are in demand and there is not any trend that I've seen of either one of them falling out of favor at the present time. I would just pick either one. Once you know C++ well it won't be too hard to learn Java or vice versa. They are somewhat similar in the contruct of the code once you know one well its not a gigantic stretch to learn the other.

learn c++ and then java, it fairly is the astonishing direction to persist with, the two are merchandise oriented and c++ will tutor you the basics of oops suggestions, java will tutor you GUI, db connectivity, making own computing device apps, information superhighway based apps and greater.

I don't know much about Java, but I can guarantee that C++ isn't hard to learn, but has great potential. I've used internet sources to learn it pretty well in about 3 months of on and off effort.

If you chose to use C++ may I suggest the tutorial that you can download at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/beginner/cc305129.aspx ? Good luck!

Both are based on OOPS concept. So you can learn any one. If you learn c++ it will be easy to learn java later. It depends from company to company as they want c++ coders or java coders. If you are learning java, you can apply for sun certification which will add value to your resume.

C++ is best for stand-alone applications.

Java is best for Web applications.

You can run either on either, but that is the way it breaks down.

C++ is more difficult to learn, but that is because it is more sophisticated.
