as jsp contains tags in it .. I am confused whether it is a markup language or a programming language.

JSP include both for developing website

HTML. You should be able to put together HTML pages.

Java. You should be able to program in Java.

Hi,

JSP is programming language and used to create dynamic websites and applications.

In JSP is simple text file with .jsp extension. JSP contains the HTML tags and you can embed the Java code inside jsp.
