Can you suggest a news system script?

I need a news system script with news publishing, comments, avatars, user profiles and user registration. It would be nice if this script would be for free or open source. Something like CuteNews, but this script is not for free. But don't suggest Wordpress or Joomla - they are too heavy and with too many features.

You can create a news management site easily by using Drupal. There are good number of themes to. It needs installing few add-ons and tweaking, but they are all available free on Drupal's site. Once the system is ready, you can do pretty much whatever you need like comments, avatars, automatic user registration, user profiles, etc.



Else, take a look at http://novoya.com/ There you can create a new site with already available tools. Just configure it and point it to your own domain.



I suggest you to go with Drupal.
