Help with new Java update. Why wont it install?

Ive been trying to download Java version 6 update 19 but everytime i do an error pops up. it says "The installer cannot proceed with the current internet connection settings." I went to the website and tried to figure out what was wrong but it didnt help. Can anyone please me?

Are any of the Java files still in use? (Kill jqs.exe in Windows Task Manager) Try rebooting or using ProcessExplorer to find files that are still running out of the jre6 directory.

This sounds like you're using the online installer, and it doesn't like your network settings. It may be best to download the offline installer instead.



If it's just the Java runtime (JRE), go to the manual download page at java.com:

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp



And click on the OFFLINE version for your OS and computer. That downloads everything you need to install the JRE.



Looking at the Sun/Oracle website, I don't see online/offline versions of the development kit (JDK), so you must have been installing JRE. I hope this helps.



In any case, make sure your Java downloads come directly from either java.com (for the JRE) or java.sun.com (for the JDK).
