A friend of mine is such a high level programmer he knows css back to front with the divs, ids, classes and the rules such as margin and padding, he knows his hacks and conditional comments when it comes to styling he would say hes a fairly advanced developer, he told me he can also do javascript and php too but hes had no formal training, question is how hard id it for 'one' to be a great developer learning real hard code like css and html?

HTML and CSS is the easy stuff. You want hard, try things like PHP, Ajax, or Actionscript 3.

These days the Web is very complicated, and so much goes into web design that being good at it takes a lot of knowledge and experience. While I think just about anyone could do it, only a genius will find it easy; and anyone who wants to do it needs to be ready to learn many new ideas and rethink a lot of what they think they know.

How about I put it this way...

I am 13 years old with over a year interest in programming. I know HTML and CSS fluently. Web designing is extremely easy for a good programmer, AS LONG as you know JavaScript. JavaScript makes everything more interactive. I myself have made 2 sites.

Oh, and if you want to make something with databases and users, I would advise PHP, which is quite a bit harder.

When I was 12 years old I could do HTML and CSS easily, they are probably the easiest languages by far. Take a shot at it, JavaScript is also fairly easy but PHP you might need weeks to months of practice on depending how much you want to learn.

Good luck!

P.S: No classes should be needed either, teaching yourself is probably a lot quicker anyways by looking up videos and reading books.

his role isn't a web designer, he's a web developer. that includes programming components and behavior on to the page.. a designer just designs the layout, the look and feel of the site. both are equally important.

To be a web designer depends on your creativity.. your ability to design a layout the look of the website...

To be a web programmer depends on your knowledge of the programming languages... you learn the full use of html, css, javascript some server side languages such as PHP, ASP, JSP... and SQL such as mysql, ms sql, oracle sql, etc.

some web developers plays both roles.. designing and programming..

to start with either, a common road for many to start from is www.w3schools.com it has tutorials and quizes to test your knowledge.. success in the fields depends on your ability to be creative

web designer or developer? i believe he is a developer.

we development you can definitely learn.

html and css are the easiest languages, so start with those.

you can learn any of this stuff on your own, there lots of websites and books out there that will teach it to you.

javascript and php are a little bit more complex but you can still learn that on your own too, just takes practice and research.

that is exceedingly a lot no longer plausible to detect a job basically an cyber web clothier. maximum cyber web web site layout jobs comprise cyber web hosting and consistent help on enhancing and such. the competition for cyber web web site layout is particularly intense on the present second. except you've some type of popularity of a few form, you may have a troublesome time searching for artwork on the internet (attempt beginning with interior sight organizations/organizations to boost a portfolio). i won't be able to allow you to know that it receives a lot less complicated as your portfolio turns into loaded with powerful examples because it would not get a lot less complicated.

That depends if you are asking about designing a website, or programming the code that turns that design into something that can be seen in a browser.

They are 2 different tasks with completely different set of skills required.

Good coders don't always make the best designers, and those who have the artistic skills to design, using the best color combinations, shapes, layout, etc., are not necessarily the best coders.
