When i go to save my image in photoshop CS4 the default save file type is always .*PSD, can i have .*jpg,jpeg as the default save type?

No you can't change the default "Save As" setting. However there are a couple other options, which may or may not be worth it for you.



First, if you choose "Save for Web" and save your image as a jpeg it will retain those settings. This will compress your images more but will be perfect if you are using them for the web. Second, you can create a new Action using the Actions panel that will record your 'save as jpeg' action and allow you to repeat that action with just 1 click.

nope. you cant change the default save type. default for Photoshop is always PSD (its a working document).



Jpg/jpeg, gif etc are rendered graphic formats that is taken from the working document

if your record is layered, in many circumstances circumstances you may desire to flatten the image in the previous it assist you to preserve as a JPEG. (You bypass to Layer > Flatten image, in case you probably did no longer understand already) Layered pictures are the only ones i've got had problems with. i wish this allows. :]
