Hello,
I am building a website in WordPress and it always pulls up SUPER slow, other sites pull up quickly on my comp. I am hosting it through Go Daddy. Do I need to switch my hosting? If I switch who should I switch to? Its a 12 page website.
Thanks!
Jessica

Hello Friend,

I think you built your website through wordpress.com not by wordpress.org. You should use wordpress.org for your website building because it contains all the important tools for website building. Many of my friends are using the wordpress.org for their website building. You will not get any problem if you use wordpress.org for your website. I suggest you please go through this link for more information about wordpress.org.

Godaddy is notoriously bad at hosting - to include hosting support. There are many good hosting companies to go to like Hostgator and Bluehost. My recommendation is Hostgator.

To see if your site itself is the problem, go to this site and see if you have too many, or some extraordinarily large page objects: http://www.uptrends.com/aspx/free-html-site-page-load-check-tool.aspx

If you do then fix that because it that will directly affect your site performance to include search engine rankings. If you do Google pay per click advertising then it will also directly affect the cost of your ads. Google penalizes you monetarily for slow page load times.

In short, slow websites will ultimately cost you money no matter how you look at it.

Lastly, after you move hosting, and assuming you go to Hostgator, set your website up in CloudFlare. That can take a 5 second page load time to less than 1 or 2 seconds. Very compelling. Hostgator tech support (24 hour phone, email and chat) will always be able to help you.

I have used Cloudflare and I highly recommend it, for many reasons. Just go to http://cloudflare.com and see how they can benefit your site - at no cost.

It might be that you have too much plugins running. Plugins slow down Word Press.

A number to compare:

My average load time* for october of a standard Word Press blog without any plugins hosted at E2 is 0.666 seconds.

*Measured every few minutes from different locations

Try to disable your plugins to see whether it helps. If not consider switching your host.

Personally, I recommend E2 web hosting. They offer great hosting for a very affordable price.

Here's a link to check them out: http://www.unlimband.com/webhost/e2.php

I host most of my sites with them and I'm very satisfied with their service.

Hope this helps.
