How do I turn on JavaScript?

I am trying to watch a video on youtube. It keeps telling me that I either have JavaScript turned off or that I don't have the latest update of Adobe Flash player. I uploaded the latest update of Adobe Flash player about ten minutes before I tried to watch the video, so it can't be that. I even tried restarting my computer to see if that had anything to do with it. That doesn't work either. I really want to watch these videos, and it is doing this on my computer at work too. I work on a Mac at work and I have a dell at home. What is the deal? I downloaded whatever updates it said I needed and it still wouldn't work. What should I do?

You might have to tweak your firewall settings or shut it down temporarily. I was having the same problem with YouTube, MySpace videos, and stuff on the NBC site. I am running Symantec Client Firewall 8.7 and I have to disable it to see these videos on any of my computers. I only ran across this issue after moving from Honolulu where I had Time Warner cable internet to Chicago where I have AT&T/SBC DSL. I assume the DSL is running through a proxy that redirect the ports the videos stream on.

But yeah, try shutting your firewall off. Be sure to turn it back on when you're done.

Hooray for the answer above me. Very thorough. Not everyone uses Internet Explorer (thank God).
