I would like to create a Database that works for my computer that I could use without internet. I want to be able to control how I navigate, what the interface looks like (not my highest interest), what buttons (or links) take me to, placing as many drop boxes, textboxes, or buttons as I please and more.

Such an example is yahoo answers. The top has Home, Mail, News, Sports,... and the side has the Yahoo Answers icon which takes one to their Yahoo Answers home, then All Catergories, Arts & Humanities... on the side. There is also the textbox to search answers.

I've learned SQL in MS Access and although I could do this, I could not make a datavalues into a link to open files and/or programs like a Word Document, or a webpage (because I have an older version of Access). Still, I would like to know other alternatives to allow me to do this.

I still am somewhat a beginner in computer science and programming so I'm wondering what should I learn to do this? Should I learn MySQL or mariadb, other programming languages (Java, C, C++, HTML...). Other suggestions?

Learn PHP to create the custom websites, Apache to serve the pages and use the MySQL database.

Install a program called XAMPP, which installs a web server, PHP, MySQL, a file server and a mail server for you very painlessly. Seriously, it was the simplest install I've ever done. If you want to learn how to do it manually, then install the Apache and MySQL servers, then the PHP modification to Apache, but XAMPP is a good starting point to understand how everything works together, it's easier to learn how to set up servers if you start with XAMPP.

Then, I'd recommend learning PHP from http://thenewboston.org/list.php?cat=11 (I learned it from there so I can say from experience that it works). As with any language, previous programming language experience is preferable but NOT required. The tutorials on that website start simple enough that it's easy to use to learn your first language.

You'll also need to learn the MySQL query language. SQL stands for Structured Query Language.

hi, let's discuss what each one of what you mentioned the SQL and MS is database itself. now java is an in depth install but what I recommend is a C++ this is installing an abbreviation that way you can install a more larger file database. now let's talk about how you can accomplish this place your diskette in your dvd burner and reboot when you reboot hit f12 and install your files and drivers. now what I recommend is that instead of you doing this a computer repairman can help you with a lot more powerful database then you can get the effects without the sweat and your sql is installed stronger than if you did it yourself. good luck I hope I was helpful to you

I think you would be well advised to take a look at MySQL.
