The maximum amount of memory (address space) that can be used by an application in 32 bit Windows is 2 GB. This is addressed by the program via a sequential table which can become fragmented as objects are allocated and released. This can cause memory allocation failures when sufficient space is available but fragmented. A good application can handle this by saving and loading memory to/from disk. One solution, if the application is compatible, would be to use 64 Bit Windows, where more of the 4 GB RAM can be used and user address space is much larger (8 GB on my 64-Bit Vista Home Premium).

it sounds you are new to max, models are ranked not only with its perfection the mesh weight also a factor, if you wannabe a good modeler work on reducing the no. of vertices as you can. then only it will be easier to animate ,apply texture & render. try some methods to reduce no. of vertices in max.increasing ram or hdd is not a solution then oneday you cant render even in a apple machine if you modelling like this.

reducing the mesh weight gains ur model weight.

ppl will adore you.

try increasing your virtual memory
