Hi, I use GIMP and have been doing freelancing lately. I've noticed most people want their finished files in vectors, .eps or .ai. Since I use gimp I can't export to those, but I can export to a couple, such as .psd, .pdf, .tif... Can someone please tell me a program to use to export as an .eps or .ai? And when it's an .eps, will there be multiple files to download? I don't want to have to buy illustrator... Is there any way? Thank you so much

1. Go here: http://www.ghostscript.com/download/gsdnld.html

Download the version of GhostScript GPL suitable for your computer. The public license column is free to use.

2. Install it.

3. If on a Windows computer click Start orb | then RIGHT click on Computer (or My Computer)

4. In the window that opens look in left pane and click on "Advanced System Settings"

5. In the window that opens click the "Environment Variables..." button

6. The next window that opens has two sections; use the TOP section !!!

6A. So click the 'New' button in top section 'Variables for user ... '

6B. Now in the "Variable Name" line type:    GS_PROG

6C. Next click inside the Variable Value: and type:    The path to the executable for GhostScript version you installed

Typically this path would be for example:

C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.07\gswin64.exe

If you were using a 32-bit version then C:\Program Files (x86)\gs\gs9.07\\gswin32.exe

7. Now just click OK or Apply till all windows disappear: reboot your computer

You should now be able to import AND export .eps files into GIMP

You are using the wrong software!!!

GIMP is a raster image editor like Photoshop - neither of them can output vector images. Although both can export EPS - these will not be vectors, they'll simply be raster images wrapped up in an EPS format. Same if you export as PDF, they will still be raster images. If you are editing raster images for printing/publications, the format you want to export in is TIFF.

If you want to edit or create vector images you will need a vector image editor like Illustrator - or you can use Inskcape is which is free http://www.inkscape.org

I would talk to an adviser at your school. They've resources available to seek out you an internship. I'd do a yahoo search of corporations within the PA field and ship out a resume. I would interview unless I found the best fit that might support me mature and acquire abilities in that subject.
