When I try to open any program except Internet Explorer I get the good old error message: file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel. I can not re-install Windows XP because it's all ready on my lap top. I just want to know how to go about fixing this, if only for even a couple applications/programs because I only use a few anyways, can someone tell me exactly how to do this? I mean the steps exactly to fix it? If you need more info, just e-mail me at: laylahmarie22@yahoo.com Please help:)!! It would really be appreciated & 10 points to you!

Programs don't have associations, data file types do. If you're sure you're trying to open programs, run a full virus scan - some viruses prevent you from opening programs. If you're trying to open data files, make sure you have a program for that type of file first. Then go to Computer, find that file, double click it and you'll get a box allowing you to select a program to open it with. Select the program, click the "Always use the selected program ..." box and click OK.
