I started programming when I was 15 years old, but wish I started sooner. We had a school course that was very useful because it started with very basic languages that are similar to some modern ones. For something easy, try visual basic. If you have a windows 7 computer it might already have it.

But, no there is no specific age you have to be, and the math you need as a beginner is pretty basic. Have fun man, but most importantly... do what you think instead of what some random people on yahoo answers tell you to do. Just because they think 15 is the right age, doesn't mean they are right. Only you know when you are ready to start programming.

Best of luck to you!

You can start learning programming at 16-30 years age

I don't think that there is any age particularly, although having a reasonable level of mathematical knowledge helps. Some very bright kids can start with basic programming at 8 or 9. 12 or 13 is not so bad, particularly if you have good grades in math.

There is not a "good" age.

Today's kids can learn by playing, while developing logic programming have fun and learn to organize algorithms unwittingly, a child who is able to demonstrate interest or talent in those games actually already started programming, I have seen games that type that can be used by children from 2-3 years hardly need to read or count, since they are fully graphical and intuitive applications.

So the right age is decided by the ability to code logic that each individual shows have, while earlier the better, but if there is interest it is possible to become a grea coder even starting not too young.

Age is not the determining factor. One can begin learning to program effectively once a person has grasped the concepts of abstraction (ideas rather than events), iteration, conditional processing and variables. Some adults never reach a sufficient understanding of these concepts to program. Some exceptional children do so at very young ages (2-3 years old).

You start programming as soon as your born bud, everyone has the ability to program, just like everyone has the ability to solve a problem. Programming isn't just learning a new language and bam your a expert. Learning the syntax of a language is just 10% of the way there. You have to learn logic, Algorithms, IDE's, design, ect ect, And then finally your about 50% of the way there. The rest is just being a good problem solver and thinking outside of the box. Hope this helps.

Age does not matter. Contrary to the other answers, I believe that once a child can operate a computer, he/she should be able to learn to program. When young, information gets taken into brain easily, because less logic clogs your thoughts. As you get older, however, it gets harder to learn something as large as programming because your brain can easily get distracted by "life"

It depends on one's interest and capacity to understand the logic behind code of programming language. I used to do meditation from the age of 13 and could concentrate to understand programming language. I did not get a chance to code on my own before 17 years of my age. I think it depends on interest and capacity purely but not on any other factor.

13 is an excellent age.

Programming has several different complexity levels. A 13 year old could start off with front in language like HTML, and CSS. It would allow him to build and design basic websites. As their understanding grows they could move in to Javascript. I would suggest Javascript with Jquery. Then to server side. I would suggest PHP.

Age has nothing to do with it. If you get it, you get it. Some people don't ever get it.

Iam 15 and i started to learn C# because its good, LUA is next but idk where you will use it. I used C# to make mods to Terraria and LUA for garrys mod. It takes about 6 or 7 months if you will learn 5 hours every day. About 2 or 3 months when learning from wake to sleep.
