IIS can be installed on xp home but you need to have a fair bit of technical knowledge when attempting to do this. And yes microsoft does not support its installation, very typical of them.

I can provide with links to the walkarounds but you will need to get your hands on some cds which have iis or simply upgrade your xp home to xp pro which should install iis on your machine automatically.

I am adding a google link which has a series of links to show you how to install iis on xp home

http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=en&q=installing+iis+%2Bxp+home&meta=

Note: there is some risk that you might damage your system if you don't know what you're doing.

hope this helps

yes you can install IIS on windows xp home edition. check this link:

http://www.webthang.co.uk/tuts/tuts_server/iis_xph/pippo_xp.asp

But whether it is legal to do that, its another matter. The reason is that you are copying IIS files from another windows server 2000 instance, which you wouldn't have licence to modify.

You can install Apache server on windows home edition, and Apache is free!

xp home dont technically have it, you can use the the guide http://www.webthang.co.uk/tuts/tuts_server/iis_xph/pippo_xp.asp as above. i have tested it on 3 machines and it all works.

allthough i would recomend having pro as it would be more secure, as microsoft dont support iis for xp home.

appache is a good server, but i use iis and i run perl, and php on it
