How to program in Ada and what compiler is needed?

How do I program in the Ada language and what compiler do I need for Ada? There's no class for Ada, but it is used in the DoD and other companies. Thanks.

I see there's a GNU Ada compiler, though I don't know anything about it other than other GNU compilers are a bedrock of OSS development. I suppose you could mate it to VI(M), Emacs or Kate for programming.
