How can I view a .xml file?

I use an app on Android called SMS Backup & Restore to backup my sms and mms messages and I am trying to be able to view them on my Windows 7 PC. I have Microsoft Office 2007 and when I go to the file it automattically opens in Internet Explorer, sadly the page doesn't load save for a completely white screen and the file location in the search bar. I right click > open with > Word 2007 and it says "This XML document has multiple data views. Before making changes to the document, choose the data view (XSLT) to apply." in a box right under it there are two options that say, "sms.xsl" and "Data only" the Data only is highlighted in gray and the file has purple boxes with the word sms in them. I click sms.xsl and it has a pop up box saying "Problems with XSL transform (insert my file location) prevent it from being applied to this XML file." there are two options, one saying OK and the other saying Details >>>. Under the Details button it says there is no error detail available. I have downloaded the XML Notepad program and the texts are jumbled within computer code. One file had worked by opening in MS Word, but besides that none have worked. I really need to view these files on my computer, is there another program that's free or another thing I can try? If so, please give step by step instructions as I'm not very computer savvy. Everything I try to do has the text body laced and jumbled with computer code. Or perhaps is there a way to convert the .xml file to a MS Word readable file?
Thank you very much

Just google for "XML viewer".

MS Office will screw everything up except MS Office files.

You can also try and view the file with a decent browser like Firefox or Chrome.

I don't know about opening it as an MS Word File, but you can right click the file, open it with Notepad or.. Wordpad (whatever you have), and you should have the code. I guess you could just copy and paste it on an MS Word page.

Hope I helped! ;D

Use a program to sync your android device with your computer to view this file.

Or try Macromedia Dreamweaver to open your xml file.

Good luck :)
