Go to command prompt:

you can use shortcut to open command prompt as below.

use WinKey + R - type :"cmd" (without qoutes) into runwindow.

1. type notepad.exe - itl'll open notepad

2. type mspaint.ext - it'll open MS-paint

other way could be create a batch file.

eg.

1. Open notepad

2. type "call mspaint.exe" into it (without qoutes).

3. save it as paint.bat not txt file.

4. go to command prompt and open that file by just typing its name, itll open MS-paint

Yes, you can run most of your programs. Go to the disk containing them (eg: d: or c:) Now type "cd etc. Now type the name of the application followed by ".exe". (eg notepad.exe). Some windows applications open directly . their location is in the default "path".

For Notepad

Go to Command Prompt

Type cd\

You will return to C:

Type cd Windows

You will see:

C:\Windows

Type Notepad

Note pad will open

For MSpaint:

Afre coming to C: Windows, type cd system32

You will see:

C:\Windows\system32

Type Mspaint

Mspaint will open

This is valid for the normal directories in which MSpaint or notepad are kept. If your packeges are kept in other directories, you will have to go to these directories.

dir List the contents of the current DIRectory

cd xxx CHANGE DIRECTORY to the sub-directory xxx

cd / CHANGE DIRECTORY to the root directory

cd .. CHANGE DIRECTORY up one directory level

x: Change drive to drive x (usually c, d, etc..)

copy xxx yyy COPY the file xxx into a new file called yyy

copy xxx zzz\ COPY the file xxx into the sub-directory zzz

copy xxx . COPY the file xxx into the current working directory

ren xxx yyy REName the file named xxx to a file named yyy

move xxx yyy\ MOVE the file xxx into the sub-directory yyy

move xxx . MOVE the file xxx into the current directory

del xxx REMOVE (delete) the file xxx

md xxx MAKE DIRECTORY xxx under the current directory

type xxx CATALOGUE (display to screen) contents of file xxx

edit Open a simple text editor

edit xxx Open file xxx in the editor

So if type in the actual file (nothing else) including the file extension it should open with the default editor, usually notepad. This will open the source code, not run the application

If you want to actually run a program in cmd, you must compile it first. This is done by typing... (file_name being you file)

* being extension......

"gpp file_name.*"

and then type...

"a.exe" ...

which will run the last compiled program, which will be the one you just compiled

I hope I could have been of assistance

Sure you can, if you want. It's easier to open them from the Run dialog, but whatever.

You'll need to make sure the program you want is located within a directory listed in the PATH environment variable, otherwise you would first have to CD to the program's directory, or type in the full path when running. For all executable files (.exe, .com, .bat, .cmd) you DON'T need to type the file extension, unless for reasons of ambiguity.
