I have a good idea and want to turn it into reality. It is difficult to find a partner, so I wanna do it on my own. I'm poor at programming. But I wanna have a try. My idea is a web 2.0 website with several excellent products. The problem is, which programming language am I supposed to choose, PHP 5 or Java?

Finally someone asking a good question on this forum.

Anyways PHP and JAVA well the demand for PHP and for JAVA in the market is the same. Some companies prefer to go for PHP because its easy to implement and incurs less cost but at the same time you cannot perform some functions which you can with JAVA like EJB which brings in the concept of distributed computing and servlets which allows faster processing of users request and also less overload on the server side.

Well now that you mention it i am also developing an application which is Web 2.0 based, i am using Java, EJB3.0, in the back end and mysql as the back end database.

I front end i am using JSF, HTML, CSS etc for the front end development.

I am using netbeans 6.0 as the IDE and java creator.

if you are looking for someone to work with you on the project i can join your team, send me a mail if you are interested.

Do you mean Java or javascript? (they're not the same)

Neither of those is an apples to apples comparison with PHP. They are generally used for different purposes.

In the case of web 2.0, you will likely need PHP, and possibly javascript. Probably not Java.

Consult a professional web developer, who can explain the differences in those programming languages and make more specific recommendations based on your unique situation.

as far as i understand the 2.0 it basically delivering application to the user, interacting with web sites.

php is server side and java is the opposit - the 2.0 is trying to do somthing in bettween where the person does not need neccecerily the server side to run the program but he does need to interact with the server,

in short you may need both

check these languages

ajax, (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML)

Hop - is a new higher-order language designed for programming interactive web applications
