Im starting a new internet venture. Im a new graduate out of a respected Canadian business program with an original and potentially very profitable idea (I have a real business model with 3 different revenue streams. I'm not just relying on something flippant like ad revenue to make a net profit) however i dont have much capital and i understand that if i am to build and ultimately scale up this business i would need a competent computer programmer as my partner to not only build the site but maintain it and make crucial IT decisions with me in the future. All i have right now is a Business Plan and a couple meeting set up with some mentors. What is the best way to attract the attention/ interest of competent and proficient computer programmers? what would incite them to take an equity stake rather than salary? The Website would be fairly complex and require a searchable data base, Instant messaging capabilities and must allow for the transfer on fund from user to user. Nothing like my idea exists online yet so we would be entering new consumer space. Thank you for your imput please include what your background is when you respond

ie: Graduating from computer science program
Former computer programmer on a new venture project
Entrepreneur who has dealt extensively with programmers

Advertise on Craigslist and take a look at people's resumes, talk to them, etc.

If you wish to broaden Apps (we could face it, the iPhone can be historic information by the point you get to the factor wherein you might broaden some thing well), I'd opt for C, C++, or Java. C/C++ is used for video games plenty of occasions. iPhone makes use of Objective C. Not certain what the variations are considering that I do not code Obj C. C is like supplying you with a chainsaw and a block of ice. Some humans can carve lovely sculptures, different humans simply make a large number. Java is widespread considering that you'll be able to do internet stuff on it as good as standalone apps. If you'll be able to do it in Java it is as a rule been performed earlier than. If you are in to Web applied sciences I'd move Javascript or Ruby. First off despite the fact that, you must as a rule gain knowledge of HTML and perhaps a few PHP (makes producing HTML slightly simpler than instantly coding). Maybe a few CSS however you'll be able to consistently get loose templates and simply tweak as an alternative of creating it from scratch I'd say gain knowledge of C and Java. C is a procedural language, while Java is Object Oriented. There's one-of-a-kind patterns concerned in writing both of them, so gain knowledge of each and every and you'll be able to be capable to use what you realize to different programming languages.
