Microsoft & Apple should cool their beef & join forces:

from AAPL
- dock design
- hardware design
- security/ stability
- Finder columns view of files
- Stickies (Post-it notes has a free program for PC)
- garage band, itunes...& other cool aps
- Spaces to organize many open windows
- windows switching button
- search from taskbar by categories
- color labels for folders

from MSFT
- many details in list view & thumbnail preview of folder contents
- right click an option
- Word, Excel...windows versions
- Clear font graphics.. That's a MUST. no true font fuzziness...unless it's app specific for photo editing & graphic design.!
- Windows folder icons - they're colorful
- instant print-screen / screen capture.
- instantly maximize/ full screen view
- simple paint program, picture fax viewer, and all the basic simple apps.
- start menu for opening programs can be incorporated into the dock.
- ability of opening zipped folders w/out extracting contents & password protection (as in XP

Applesoft is hot (notice apple comes first and soft is in the butt area)

having mac equipped with functioning spreadsheet programs would make for a pretty machine.

soft font is a keeper-soothing to the eyes [but an option to change the viewing mode should be added]

thumbnails to be added

start button is ugly and messy so no to that

Okay, so what's your point ?

Apple and Microsoft should merge, work on some kind of unified operating system, or am I missing something ?

That is highly unlikely, not in the nearest future at least.

Pig and Elephant DNAs just won't splice, if you catch my drift.
