I have a swf file that I want just a piece of but I do not have the original fla file or flash. I do have Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign though. Is it possible to crop a swf file using any of those programs, or even a freeware program?
I know there's a slim chance but if you know of a possible way, I would appreciate the knowledge.
Thanks!

Does the crop you mentioned here mean to crop the size of the original swf file? If it does, then you can use this specific crop function in the video editing tab of the swf to video converter linked below; if it doesn't, hope other professionals can help.

You don't have to upload the fla to the website that can stay on your computer as it is the source, the swf (exported movie) is the one you need to worry about, most flash movies are in the KB for example i have a game which is only 49kb's, i assume you have music and video which you have imported and embedded as this will take up room, i would worry about the size of your flash movie because most computers will run it slow, if you don't have video and audio embedded into the movie i would be worried to why the file is so big, maybe deleting old library items could free some memory.

Only if you can find a flash clone that can decompile the swf back to fla files.
