Question:
No tab email views: Horrible?

The new email interface implemented on 10/8/13 is absolutely horrific. It eliminates internal email tabbing, thus preventing users from being bale to have multiple emails open. The ability to switch between multiple emails that are open in separate browser tabs or separate internal Yahoo email tabs is a basic, absolutely essential function. I MUST be able to have multiple emails open simultaneously. This is a critical feature.

This change, and other changes that I am forced to accept based on designers' ill-informed and bad design decisions has deeply angered me. It appears to emulate the terrible design of gmail. What are Yahoo designers thinking?

=>Why not enable several types of views/account set-ups and allow users to define how they want to view their emails and allow more interface behaviors? The imposition of poorly conceived designs underpinned by false assumptions about what users want or need is a terrible way to go. It is totally unclear what is driving this design change and what the designers hope to achieve or think users need.

=>This new "no tabbing" email viewing change is the most awful one yet--a capping a series of previous poor design impositions on Yahoo email users.

I agree! If I wanted my yahoo account to look like gmail, I would get a gmail account. Some of the changes I can live with but I need to be able to open multiple emails at the same time!

unfortunately, Yahoo Mail has removed the ability to open multiple tabs, I am really disappointed in them for doing this rather than making it an option. I really hope that they restore the multiple tabs feature immediately as it was the main reason I have stayed with Yahoo Mail!

Also, the left pane no longer allows you to view at the same time all folders WITH inbox and spam folders. You now need to switch between them, wasting time and effort.

Why did they change and remove all of the good stuff from Yahoo Mail????

I think it is because it is harder for spy agencies to monitor email when there are multiple tabs open. Yahoo has been pressured to remove the feature. There is no other logical explanation as to why the feature has been removed. It is a disgrace. I have been with yahoo for over 15 years. If anyone can recommend another provider I would be grateful.

UPDATE: Go to your options and you can return to "Basic" Yahoo Mail which has the tabs!

Absolutely concur! If I'm in the middle of writing a message, then need to go check another e-mail, I've got to save a draft, close the window, go read the other message, go to my draft folder, click edit draft, then apply any changes before sending? Or I could have just had a tab opened the whole time. Who comes up with these "updates"??

I agree, I want my email tabs back so I can pop back and forth between multiple emails. I guess the saboteurs from gmail or wherever have struck again! How else can you explain yahoo's apparent attempt to infuriate customers and DRIVE THEM AWAY.

I totally agree! Tabs were the pro of yahoo... :(

To ensure customers' loyalty you have to maintain your identity and reinforce it, not making a bad copy of your competitor...
