OK, first you write the text you want in the cells above. Then highlight them, right-click, select "Format Cells", go to the "Alignment" tab, and then in the Degrees section, type in 70 degrees.

what you are looking at is a picture of a "pivot table"

heres a simple one:

in A1 to A7 cut &paste this

date

1623

1642

1673

1820

1822

1885

in B1 to B7 cut&paste this

header

first mech

pascals mach

leibinz buil;d

arithmometer

babbages

burroughs

in c1 to c7 cut &paste this

text

text1

text2

text3

text4

text5

text6

- highlight A1 to C7

- click Data

- click Pivot table

- click finish

- drag all 3 header items to the "Drop Column Fields Here" box (edit- just drag the items so they are next to each other...and see below about getting rid of totals-this picture doesnt use them)

- for this example it doesnt really matter which item is on top

- just highlight the top row

- right click on your highlight

- click format cells

- change the text to 45 degrees

- you can highlight the 3rd row and turn it 90 degrees

want to get rid of the totals 1st:

- you can right click on any of the "total" fields

- click field settings

- click none

edit-

SJA...very very nice!
