Is it possible to import/edit a divx encoded video in Final Cut Pro?

I recently switched to Mac and I'm having an issue here. In PC, I used to download codecs for whatever software I'm using and then it makes it capable of dealing with the certain type of file. However, in Mac, I feel like I'm a little limited. Is there anyway I can import and edit a divx/xvid video into Final Cut Pro? Thank you in advance!

I'm afraid you can't do that. Final Cut Pro doesn't support divx video. You have to convert the divx video to mp4 video for editing in Final Cut Pro. If you don't know how to convert video, I think this step by step direction would help you a lot
