cant install extensions in Joomla 1.7?

Question

i've tried to install different extensions and i just get a blank page after it attempts to install. i have tried installing using all three methods. the install by directory says enter a valid directory .i have even tried turing off the ftp .

Joomla 1.7 is really really really ...... really old (The newest version is v2.5.2)

I suspect that the extension they are building for joomla these days are NOT backwards compatible with v1.7



I do suggest you upgrade asap,as you will get hacked with a version this old

This means that there's something wrong with the extensions that you're trying to install. In order to see the error, you will need to enable error display in the configuration settings (set error reporting to maximum). Once you do that, you'll be able to see that there was an error.
