Download all the GStreamer plugins in Add/Remove.





Make sure you select the following:

Show: All available applications

You can try using VLC Media Player. It support AVI files along with various common media formats. The Windows version is very good and I would assume that the Linux version is also good.

Not all avi files can be opened by WMP due to compression, bit rate and other parameters. Try to download VLC media player or Kodak lite KLC player. It would help. Regards, Nayan
