i am working with a project in c++ and computer aided automation. now i have some problems with input data conversion. i am using parallel port for my data output. i need a minimum of 8 bits input of data(already multipluxed). all signals i use are digital signals. will i be able to use serial port data? if can please specify me ic's we use to interface.

A question, Why don't you add an additional Parallel port to your computer and take from parallel and put out to Parallel? The ports are very inexpensive and may save you some programming!
