Some of the people I've worked with in the field who were Oracle DBA's also had a solid Linux background. They were charged with not only maintaining the Oracle databases, but also managing the linux servers that hosted them. This is especially important when applying patches and troubleshooting server performance. I'm not saying you can't a DBA job without Linux knowledge. But it never hurts to learn a few more skills.

Be xprt in SQL, MYSQL, ORACLE(all versions).
