PowerBasic is a version of BASIC that produces really small (Not Bloatware) applications that are as fast as assembly and C but the compiled programs DO NOT require extraenous DLL's etc.

If you are thinking of learning or using BASIC and want your applications to be small and fast then PowerBasic is the way to go, it has a slightly steeper learning curve than MS Visual Basic due to the way programs are developed using PB.

If you don't like the way Microsoft is dragging everyone towards their centric way of doing things with .NET etc then it is one more reason to go with PowerBasic.

BASIC (in any form)is the bane of computing.

Avoid it like the plauge.

It will teach you bad things that take years to unlearn.

learn c instead.
