How can I build a website and get it up and running?
I have no experience in this area.
I am willing to spend about $600- and to do about 20 hours worth of work.
The purpose of the website is to try and sell Real Estate Property Management Bookkeeping software (billing rental tenants and keeping track of their payments)
I would appreciate any comments or advice.
Thank you
sam

yahoo has ag reat website maker. 12 bucks a month. you have to switch to sitebuilder once you actually get your website with yahoo. not too advanced. looks great if you have any sense of creativity.easy once you get used to it.

I would suggest using an online website builder. There are many out there that will give you the tools to build your site quickly without needing to learn code.

If you decide to commission a site from a website designer you will need to take into account any future changes you may want to make. As you will end up paying every time you want a word changed. With a website builder you can change the content whenever you need to.

If you are looking for a site for business purposes I would steer clear of websites that are built in Flash. This is because Flash cannot be read by the search engines, so are notoriously difficult to optimize.

I use a company called www.reason8.com, they provide an online website builder specifically for small businesses. Their sites are built in HTML with a Flash overlay (so you still get a great look) and the SEO advantages.

Good luck,

Domain Name. .com .info .net .ws .org or whatever you want. Easy Site Builder, 10 E-Mails, Forwarding & The Ability To Bring Your Own Application Like Frontpage or DreamWeaver. It's Way More Simple Than Godaddy. I Like It.

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. A domain name is a name you want to call your website. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.

You need a web hosting service which supports online payments like, Master Card, Visa & PayPal. It is very important that your service be uptime. It means that you can access your account whenever you want to update your web pages, and your visitors can view your website whenever they type your website address. If your hosting service is not uptime it is real hell!

If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.

If you want to run a successful e-commerce you must choose a reliable web hosting service. The security of your business directly depends on the security of your hosting service. (Hacker safe)

Take a look at: http://www.threehosts.com/business

There you can reach the three reputable companies that are leaders in the E-commerce web hosting industry.

Good Luck!

Hi Sam,

Some hosting companies like Site Build It (SBI for short) offer a “do it for you option”. They will build your website for a reasonable fee as well as register the domain name and host your site. Then you can continue to add web pages to your site as needed. SBI also happens to specialize in ecommerce websites so they have the range of features that you will need in order to build your ebusiness.

I’ve used it to build my websites. They have a wonderful array of features that are all included in the monthly fee like an easy point and click web page builder, keyword selection tool, a blog, newsletter, auto responder, forum, statistics, etc. Most importantly they focus on SEO optimization and eCommerce so that people will actually find your site, (and buy your products!) :-)

Be sure to do a side-by-side comparison of hosting features to be sure that you select a web hosting company that will offer you the most for the least!

There is a video about SBI here:

a website is not difficult to hold

"Management Bookkeeping software" may be hard to accomplish

can we understand more about your thinking process for this software?

building a real website with .com or your domain name

is like having a physical store

3 steps you need to complete

1. find a physical store (find a server/virtual host)

you may rent or do it by yourself or but it

Rent-means you need "virtual host" (search engine can help you)

Do it by yourself - find a computer and set it as a server

2. put your commodities in your physical store (uploading your contents to server)

Web contents are placed to the server(photos or texts)

any function you need can install in this stage

3. name your physical store (domain name setting like www.tsmmc.com)

let visitors can link to your website by setting DNS server

you may set such server by yourself

try outsourcing of it - you will save a lot of time

If you think it is a service that will have great demand then get all your ideas on paper-- exactly how you see it working and pay someone to write/code/host and optimise it. Let's say it costs you a couple of thousand, how long do you think that will take to be repaid? we sometimes consider sponsored websites, see

you could probably hire somebody to do the work for you. there are many people who could probably do what is necessary and there are quite a few sites for finding somebody to do it. just go to google and type in freelance jobs and then look for a site that has other people asking for somebody to do website work. then you should be able to post it as a job. I for instance sometimes do a bit of freelance work.
