I have a big idea, to make alot of money, but I need to learn web design. I am currently studying HTML tutorials online, but I'm just wondering how powerful is HTML? Is HTML the only way to design websites, do I learn HTML then use programs such as Dream Weaver, please, any information is much appreciated.

Older versions of HTML simply used to be powerless with no functionalities. But HTML 5 has taken the world by a storm.Actually HTML is vast and needs to be explores religiously I mean deeply. But on the web now you must learn animation first because almost all websites use the feature to their best use.Still JavaScript has great scopes. An iPhone has been completely built on HTML,CSS and JavaScript.Visit http://net.tutsplus.com for exploring the vast power of the three.

You can be lazy and use Dream Weaver, but it you want to do it right, I'd say keep to html. You have much more control, and the results will be more efficient.

If it was me, I would go to a used bookstore that deals in collage text books and see if i could find a book in introduction to web design. Sometimes they have ones from alternate collages like academy of learning or tech schools. School text books have a good step by step learning for any thing they teach

You can also use Wordpress for a CMS. You don't need to know any HTML. If you do know some HTML though it will help you out.
