Help with Newly developed Software Testing Organization - Tools, Methodologies, organizational structure, etc.

Question

I have been tasked with developing a software testing organization . I was hoping that you would be willing to share some best practices your organization has experienced. I.E.:
- What tools do you use for testing? - What do you, like, dislike about them?
- What testing methodologies / processes do you utilize?
- What roles do members of your team have?
- What are some things you absolutely recommend doing?
- Things you recommend NOT doing?
- What resources are available (blogs, organizations, websites, books) that you HIGHLY recommend?

I use to teach the course

When you have to ask questions like this about Bench mark tests, project life cycles, code analysis leading up to roll-out your in way over your head!



I suggest you do some homework in "RAD" Concepts (Rapid Application Development) Of course many IT people think RAD is just a faster version of JAD. (Joint Application Development.



this is not new stuff we've Been refining this since 1990

so my one suggestion is a what not to do...Don't undertake this project until you have a better handle on the Methodologies!
