I want to build a website for my business and I am used to joomla but I don't believe it has the tools I need to create what I want. I am a TOTAL beginner and a semi fast learner. I was just reading about ASP.NET and thought that might be good to start, but I have no way of telling if it is beginner friendly. I know drupal has a learning curve but i think almost anyone can create a website using that. By the way i am creating an extensive ecommerce website with thousands of people signing up for my newsletter and hopefully a lot more later.

If you need it going in 2 weeks then you can forget ASP.NET You'll have to not only learn ASP.NET but also VB.NET or C# because that's what drives the back end of ASP.NET websites. You'll need months to learn it well enough to do a basic site, years to learn it well enough to do an advanced site.

ASP.NET is a development platform, so if you are not a developer then it's out. I would say that Drupal is out of the question as well if you need to have it ready in 2 weeks. Drupal is very powerful but it has a very steep learning curve, you won't be up-to-date with it to create the site on time.

Not sure what you mean by Joomla not having the tools. Joomla has all possible types of extensions that allow you to build a whole variety of different sites. Just take a look at Joomla site showcase available on their Web site, you will be surprised on what it can do.

Good luck.
