Dear all

I installed

- "Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows" and
- "Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2.0.2) for Microsoft Windows"

My OS is Windows 2000 pro.

I can login to the database by scott/tiger through OraDb10g_Home, Application Development, Sql plus.

But when I try to login to the database through the DevSuiteHome (Sql plus, Forms Builder, Report Builder and Oracle Designer …) I receive this message:

ORA-12560: TNS: protocol adapter error

Any body helps me??

Thanks in Advance

Walaa

control panel>Administrative Tools>services>

in services check whether 'OracleTNSListener' is enabled, if not enable it manually.

check also for 'OracleNameOra' is ebable,if not enable it manually.then run.

if this doesn't work then there is some error in ur oracle files,

(by clearing all ur oracle registry files.),reinstall it.

this may work

Just going off memory, could be one of two things:

1) Check to make sure the appropriate listener services are running

2) Check to make sure all instances of the file "listener.ora" are configured correctly.

You may want to type that error code into google, because a lot of stuff can come up that way.

homestead windows ninety 8 is very old i don't think of Oracle ever supported something below homestead windows NT 4.0 , I in no way heard of there utility working on homestead windows ninety 8. do not waste it sluggish improve your working equipment.. Or try Oracle on Linux.
