You should try using LaTeX/LyX to format and present your CV. It looks really professional, here's an example:

You can get the template from here

and LyX (the editor) from here

Hi, it depends on where you are at in your working life. If this is your first job then list your education and skills first. If you have a career history, then list this first followed by education and skills. Microsoft word can help, you can pick an entry level cv for first jobs, or career cvs for a CV to show off your work experience. If you feel that your education/skills/work experience are not as good as you would like, 'hide' these by showing off what you do have first. You don't need to put the names and addesses of referees, just put "available on request" as these take up valuable space. Make sure your CV can fit on to 2 slides of A4, and longer and the reader will get bored. Explain any gaps in your career/educational history, if you don't be prepared for tricky questions on what you have been up to! Sell yourself, even if you think a particular skill you have doesn't stand out, make it stand out. If you have done any voluntary of community work say so, employers like people who go beyond the day job and get involved outside oiffice hours. You will be competing with hundreds of other people, make sure you stand out from the crowd. I read CV's everyday and it is a boring job, so give the reader something to get excited about!!

Not quite sure why this is in computers and programming, but here goes anyhow:

Never say anything negative about yourself. If you've had previous work, and have quit or left that job, describe it in a good way, not a negative way.

Make sure you speak positively about yourself as well. Highlight your nice personality and good people skills. Let them know that you can be depended on and are highly motivated.

While college is a good thing, don't go into so much detail about it that they will think you're too busy to work there because of your school. Make sure you specify that you will be able to balance your time equally between work and school.

Just be positive, upbeat and courteous when you go in for an interview. Good luck!
