I need the first page with a 2" left margin and no header. I need, starting with the second page, a 1" left margin and a header that says "Page 2". I am using Word 2003. I couldn't find this in Microsoft's Online Help. Thanks for any help at all!

You're going to have to divide your document in two sections with different page layouts and headers. Here's how:

1. At the top of the second page, click the Insert->Break menu item.

2. Select Next Page under Breaks.

3. Click OK.

4. Move the cursor to the top of the first page.

5. Click the File->Page Setup menu item.

6. Set the Left Margin to your 2 inches.

7. Make sure the Apply To list box says "This Section."

8. Click OK.

9. Move your cursor into the second section and repeat steps 4-8, this time giving the section a 1-inch left margin.

10. Click the View->Header and Footer menu item.

11. On the menu that pops up, find the button that says "Same as Previous Section" when you hover the cursor on it and deselect it.

12. That disconnected the header. Now move your cursor down into the footer and do the same thing.

13. Move the cursor back into the header and type in "Page " where you want it to appear.

14. Click the menu button with the # sign on it. This should put a page number field next to the "Page " you just entered. This number will automatically update for each subsequent page.

That should do it. Hope that helps.

You should be able to just move the margins over to where you want them using your mouse. Usually the page 2 (or ii) would be far right side at the top.

Just Set margins as needed for each paragraph and start with everything on left side with ragged ends. Type the page number as needed and keep typing a few lines, then go back, highlight the page number and click on moving it to right side. Should be easy to do it this way.

I think this is 'Hide White Space' so try this: * Click - View - then select Print Layout (if you don't already) * Move your cursor to the very top of the white page and into the 'grey' space between the page and the 'ruler' * You should get 2 small white boxes with arrows facing towards each other and a pop up should say Hide White Space. * Click while the arrows are visible and it should return the page to normal Print Layout View Hope this helps
