The year is 2013 and I was wondering what are some very good PHP tutorials, screencasts or something similar to learn PHP in this day and age? Yes I know I could easily google PHP tutorials and a bunch would come up. But I am a bit confused because of the different versions. There is 5.3, 5.4 and possibly 5.5 now? I hear the way some things are done do change between versions and I do not want to learn obsolete methods and such. Is learning the basics from older tutorials just fine? I want to learn, I just do not know where to start. (No not my first programming langauge) Thanks!

I think the tutorials on this website are pretty good and they give you interactive examples. http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp I always find myself going to that website for web related programming. And I wouldn't worry about which version you are learning. Nothing major or fundamental is different between versions.
