Witnesses expect the worst of people. In my years growing up as a Witness I found there to be frequent drinking to excess at Witness only parties. Many swore. The congregations I have been in have had a total of 9 active pedophiles. Prescription drug abuse 1/3 of most congregations are suffering from depression Constant judicial committees for smoking. 5 suicides. One congregation disfellowshipped 6 couples for practicing wife swapping. That completely eclipses my experience outside of the Witnesses. They pretend it is good association for each other, but they are merely parroting what they have been commanded to. The smiles are plastic and fake, there is more stress inside their congregations than I have seen elsewhere.

I think every caring parent watches who their child associates with. As a parent you try to instill in your child God's laws and principles. Children can be very impressible and we don't want our child to pick up bad habits like cussing, lying, or stealing ...just to name a few. At school or in our neighborhood; we make sure that our child/teenager is not hanging around kids like that. So, it's not that they "cant" have friends that are not Jehovah's Witnesses. It's just easier and safer, if their friends are members of our faith, this way they will have the same values and know what and what is not acceptable behavior toward God. Sad to say, many children today know more about Harry Potter, than the Bible. Society improves are degrades with each generation... We try to make sure our children are a source of improvement for this world and the world to come, but even more than that we want our children to be look on by God as his loyal servants.
