That's like asking which tool is best for a carpenter, a hammer or a screwdriver.



If you limit yourself to only one tool, you won't be a very good carpenter, and if all you have in your toolbox is one hammer, soon every problem starts to look like a nail, and you'll try to pound every problem to solve them.



The same is true of programming tools. And like carpenter tools, different tools are used for different problems. "One size fits all" is only good in stretch pants, but not in programming - or carpentry either, for that matter.

PHP : this is the middle class language, mostly peoples like to use PHP. PHP Help to take awesome way towards web applications.

Java has much wider range of application than php. It's also much harder to learn. PHP is mainly designed for web development to produce dynamic web pages. Whereas java is mainly developing applications that run in web browsers. Since java is a bit complex, a PHP developer works on more projects than a java developer. Also most of the php books advise readers to learn java. When considered in your point of view there is future for PHP with wide range of web applications.

Java is for Desktop Applications, Web Application,Enterprise Application,Mobile Application,Android Application,



So there are many frameworks(persistent,ejb,pos,com .....) with Java. So when comparing PHP with java, PHP is like term test of a primary school and java is like a project for Master Degree!.



If you want to be a professional web developer, you must learn both of them.
