Look into content management systems like Mambo, Joomla, and Drupal. Each of these three use PHP and MySQL as the underlying technology and can be customized by adding modules for new features and pre-made templates for new looks. They will set up the database for you during installation if you give them a blank database to work with.

To get the most out of your chosen CMS, you should learn the basics of web server and web site maintenance, a site editor like Dreamweaver, the programming language your CMS is written in, and the database language used. However, your contributors won't have to know anything beyond basic HTML, if that, when they write articles.

For maintaining the database and other tasks, your web hosting provider may already have a web-based control panel installed on the server, or you can install something like PHPMyAdmin. There are a number of progams you can run on your desktop for that as well.

Actually, knowledge of HTML would be a must and CSS would help. As for maintaining your news, a MySQL database using PHP would be ideal.

Also, to make it easier for you, use RSS feeds on your site. There are some easy and free javascript RSS reader's for your website available on the net. Just do a search for them.

You need to learn

1. CMS (Content Management Software)

2. html and CSS

3. W3C specs for html/css and other standards

4. DB Administration

If you are going to build one ground up (instead of CMS) then you will have to learn Servlets, JSP and/or EJBs.

Microsoft SharePoint, Oracle Portal or JBoss Portal would do.

Yep. I watched it. the approach has all started. Girardi also reported that Rasner has locked up 4th spot. definite, they're going to deliver him all the way down to stretch out, and on account that the Yankees youthful pitchers dont pitch 40 innings better than they pitched the spectacular twelve months, they're going to make Joba pitch round one hundred forty.
