Question:
Can't import comma-delimited text file into database?

I've updated our Yahoo Groups database (membership roster) file several times in the past. One other member has done it a couple times in the past too. However, recently, both of us have tried (repeatedly) to import a comma-delimited (CSV) text file into a new table with zero luck. We keep getting an error:

Import Error - Sorry and error occurred while loading the data

We've checked and triple-checked the text file. We've got commas everywhere there needs to be commas. We've tried it WITH hard returns after each set of records and we've tried it WITHOUT any hard returns anywhere in the text file. It simply isn't working.

What we haven't tried is tab-delimited. Would we have any better luck with that?

HELP!!

You should be able to import either CSV or TSV

Maybe the Yahoo server is having temporary problem, might try and wait a bit and retry.

Importing data

On the group's "Database" page, click the name of the table you'd like to import data to.

Select Actions | Import.

Click an import file type:

*CSV (comma separated values)

*TSV (tab separated values)

Select the file to import.

Click Open.

Good Luck.

Sorry but that really doesn't help at all with the new groups setup. I've even exported data to a .csv file from a Yahoo table, created a table which is identical except the table name, and tried to load the recently exported data. It just comes up with an error each time. The only 'help' from Yahoo is this totally pointless explanation. https://help.yahoo.com/kb/groups/exporting-importing-database-info-sln2496.html

If anyone has succeeded in importing data into a 'NEO' group, please, please let me know what you did.

A year later and this still seems to be a problem, for both comma and tab separated files!

Why doesn't this import-thing work ?

Why doesn't Yahoo fix this problem ?
